She’d only been at the academy for a few weeks and already she’d begun to enjoy her time there. It was so different to her old school, no one taunted her for being smart, sure the upper class pupils were snobby but Maddie put that down to the way they were brought up. After all you couldn’t just start being mean; you had to live it.
Maddie strolled casually down the hallway as she took in the sight. Even the corridors looked expensive, she’d never been to such a prestigious place before, and heck she thought she’d never ever see such a place. She stopped by the window and leaned carefully against it; almost transparently she could see her reflection. Her hair was braided into two long ponytails, with clips positioned securely at each side, holding back any loose hairs that planned an escape. Although she wasn’t happy with her overall appearance she thought she looked at least presentable.( Which was good enough for Maddie).
She smiled gently as her eyes fell on the sprawling green of the grounds outside. They were so pretty, and for a moment Maddie wondered how long they went on for, she could almost imagine herself exploring and taking in each new sight. She wondered if the grounds had maple trees. Another smile graced as she remembered her home, she’d written to her parents yesterday and she wondered if her letter had reached home yet.
Truth be told she was a little homesick but she wouldn’t let that stop her learning, she had to concentrate on her education she didn’t have time for silly little sentiments getting in the way. After all she had moved here to start afresh, and it was something maddie really needed. She sighed and breath fogged up the glass. She blinked gently her blonde lashes brushed against her pale pink skin as she moved to wipe away the steam. She chuckled softly and moved to turn back to the long corridor. Class would be starting soon and Maddie didn’t want to be late.
It happened before she could stop herself and with loud clatter she tripped over an untied shoe lace and onto the soft carpeted floor. Her violet eyes widened as her class papers flew everywhere, she cringed and cursed. “Oh maple.” She half whispered as she watched each individual paper land messily on the floor. Well this was just her luck... . ... | notes - woop my first postwords - 300credit - paddy, on the edge! |

--- Antonio had taken no effort that morning to do anything with himself. Granted, he was a Senior and had a father that could sue your nose off of your own face if comments about his son's appearance made way back to him, but in all honesty he just hadn't felt like it. As he walked he ran his fingers through his hair, attacking his curly mop with little regard as he navigated the hallways purely on memory. They were only a few weeks into school and he still hadn't adjusted back to the early hours at which he was required to attend, something that most likely wouldn't ever come back to him so who was to judge that he just rolled out of bed?
Usually, as he had the last two years, Antonio spent time to meet up with the incoming students and help them around - his father liked him to practice his people skills, personally, he just liked being helpful - but with the influx related to the opening of all social classes, he had been a tad overwhelmed. Only a good handful down, he wasn't surprised when he saw a new face passing by in the Hallway.
They'd all know him eventually.
Tuned out of the world around him and enjoying the warmth of the sun the large windows were providing to wake up his sleepy brain cells, the Spanish student rounded the corner tightly - almost completely ending up head first into the wall as he dodged around the large shape on the ground.
"Ah, ow," Antonio grated, bracing the back of his head for a moment with a hand. It took a couple of seconds for him to be satisfied he wasn't going to die from head trauma, but after wards he immediately turned his attention to the obstacle he avoided. Taking note of the avalanche of papers around her, he swallowed lightly and knelt down beside her on one knee.
"No harm done," the Senior said mostly to himself, grabbing a few of the lose sheets closest to him, handing them out to her. He didn't know her face and the only ones he knew with longer hair certainly wasn't the distressed student before him, so he added on a soft "This is a new way to meet someone, no?"

Maddie bit her lip in agitation and nibbled on the soft pink flesh as her violet eyes searched for every piece of paper. Most of them were class notes but they were really important! What if she couldn’t find one and then it came up in an exam? She cringed inwardly as she thought of failing. Her parents would be so disappointed too, she could almost see their expressions of disenchantment. They wouldn’t be mad but they would be upset especially since it was such a hassle to send her here.
Maddie sighed; she was majorly overreacting, if she did lose something she could easily borrow the notes off of someone else or she could just go back to the teacher and ask for the main bits of information again. But that would be so embarrassing, what if whoever she asked said no? And then she’d be stuck... Maddie hadn’t heard the footsteps approaching until a heavily toned accent sounded across the hallway. She glanced up in horror as the boy (an upperclassman to be precise) fell into the wall to avoid bumping in to her.
“I-I’m so sorry, are y-you okay?” She stuttered out with wide eyes as a violent blush brushed across her pale cheeks. She took the papers sheepishly and added them to her wide collection. “Thank you.” Said Maddie quietly her soft tone was laced with embarrassment. “Heh, I don’t think I’ve made a friend this way before.” Said Maddie, after she’d collected up most of the papers. “B-but it’s nice to meet you.” She offered him a friendly smile as she pushed up her glasses “I’m Madeline,” she said softly. ... | notes - woop my first postwords - 300credit - paddy, on the edge! |

--- He shook his head to dismiss her apologies, quite alright if not only looking a bit more flustered than he had before with his purely tired look. That didn't matter really, outward appearance something different than his personality. The girl seemed so lost and scattered and was a little surprised when she actually spoke up but now that she was talking, he wasn't going to discourage her.
"Everything is moving," he joked, sticking up his right pointer finger and bending it playfully before her to ease her worry, "I will be alright, do not worry."
From the amount of her papers and the assortment that they were, Antonio assumed she had to be new. Small and petite, he wouldn't be surprised if she was a freshman but he doubted it - maybe it was the glasses, but they did seem to make her appear smarter than any entering freshman. "You are welcome, it's only the right thing to do, no?"
Checking behind him to make sure any of her wayward papers didn't slip by, he casually responded back as he got to his feet and offered her a hand for her to get to her own. "Antonio," he informed her, his pronunciation heavily different than the way he spoke his other words, "it is nice to meet you despite your papers getting all messy, a girl like you shouldn't have to be crawling around on the floor."
After a moment, he bothered to ask "You must be new?" assuming from her embarrassment that she was no one he had seen around before.

The blush making a permanent home across her cheeks. She was so embarrassed, she hadn’t even been in the school for a month and already she’d managed to humiliate herself. Though thankfully the boy didn’t seem like the type to laugh at her misfortune nor did seem the type of person that would hold a grudge at her, which was another good thing.
Maddie placed the papers back into a loose plastic sleeve in her file. She’d sort them out later, after all there were far too many to sort through now and the little Canadian was just happy she’d managed to get them all back. Worries of failing a class slowly melted away as a complacent feeling security began to overtake the embarrassment. She accepted his hand and pulled herself up. “T-thanks.” Stuttered Maddie almost unable to control it. She hated being so awkward it was almost painstaking how she found it so complicated to talk to someone she didn’t know. Nevertheless she mentally kicked herself as she urged whatever little charisma she held to makes its presence known.
“Antonio,” she said as she tested the name “Its really nice to meet you, and A-again thank you for helping me, I guess I must have looked really silly.” She admitted lowering her head as she hugged the files tightly. “But yeah, I just moved here from Canada a couple of weeks ago I’m a junior you see.” She smiled, “But it’s such a great place here, I’m glad I came.” She added. “The classes are just so interesting; we never had such a selection of subjects back at my old school.” Said Maddie with a grin. ... | notes - woop my first postwords - 300credit - paddy, on the edge! |

--- Antonio used his strength to haul her up, trying not to be over bearing. It wasn't as if she weighed that much to start with - regardless, he kept a firm smile on his face as she sputtered. The Spanish boy found her lack of confidence sort of cute, but for her to be here with something like that, she wasn't a leader of any sort. She must have brains instead he settled on, shifting his hands into his front pockets.
"No, not silly," he went with, watching her with inviting emerald eyes, "just in the need of some help."
The Senior mused to himself if she realized how darling she was acting, the wide grin that over took his own small smile not being seen as she looked down. "Canada," he stated, thinking it over in his head, "never been there - it's more of an oil franchise, no? We don't deal with items over there. Very little in North America."
Antonio wasn't trying to make it apparent he had something to his name, but it sort of all just rolled out as he processed her information. "I've been here for four years already, and I will agree that the classes as very interesting. It's a shame you haven't had any before, but you will like them. It is good you have them now."
Catching her smile, he took the chance to divert his own gaze, watching around her as his expression softened, returning to a thin smirk with dimpled cheeks.
Ooc; Urk, finding my place with writing Spain. Does his speech even seem to fit? I imagine it more broken and a little less grammar-correct seeing as I don't see him fluent in whatever they are speaking. orz

But then she remembered how this school was full of some of the richest families in the world, he must have a family business she blushed softly as she thought she felt very out of place. She wondered how many other students there were like her. As long as there were some she wouldn’t mind, Maddie just didn’t want to be looked down upon for being poor. But she was almost sure that this boy wouldn’t look down on her, he didn’t seem the type he seemed far to kind.
“O-oh,” she said in reply, not really knowing what to say. She felt awkward surely he’d have preferred talking to someone else, it seemed odd that someone would suddenly strike up a conversation with her, normally she was overlooked. N-not that there was anything wrong with that, she didn’t have anything against anyone who overlooked her. They probably had their own problems to deal with and it would be very selfish of her to sulk over being overlooked.
“I-I’m really looking forward to the literature class.” She admitted cheerfully “I-I’ve always loved reading, it’s so much fun especially if its a great book.” “Which lesson d-do you like the best?” she asked curiously honestly interested.

--- Antonio watched the hands on the large roman numeral clock, counting out the minutes in his head. They had time to talk still and didn't feel very polite for him to just dash off to class. He listened to her, moving his bag on his shoulder so it didn't sit so awkwardly at his side. The boy felt as if their conversation had gone sour, and with a puzzled look he glanced down at her, height to his advantage. Had he said something?
"Ah, a book smart, no? I'm not so good getting through the thick ones. I have tried," he admitted, joking a bit as he rocked on his heels, "Literature is high on my list though, I have taken worse. I personally love historia - ah, history, I like to know about my home country of Spain mostly, but it's all interesting to me. Theater too, but that crowd is too wordy for me."
The Senior grinned lazily, shrugging his shoulders once more and ultimately losing that good spot he placed his shoulder strap on before. "I do not take any classes for them though, business and mathematics for me. I'm not good at them, but it never hurts to try."
He stopped to wave at a passing pair of students, saying something between them so hurriedly in his native tongue it was an almost undecipherable jumble. Despite having his attention on her, he couldn't help be keep social, it was who he was after all.
"Are you heading this way?" he asked, pointing a head of him down the lavish hall in the direction he had originally been moving.

Maddie simply adored literature, reading was one the best hobbies ever! Well apart from watching live hockey matches, but still it was awesome! “Yeah.” She grinned and her violet eyes lit up with delight as she slowly became more confident. “R-readings so much fun,” she said with a light blush, cringing a little at how nerdy she sounded but still she didn’t really care too much. “Heh, I guess I could read all day if I had the chance, and I guess I’m okay with history I like ancient history the best though.” she smiled, “But I like mathematics to, I think the problems are logical.” She said her voice trailing off slightly “And once you’ve figured out the theory of it all, it gets a lot easier.” She gave a thoughtful look when Antonio admitted her wasn’t great at Maths, business she couldn’t really help with as it was a subject she’d never studied before, but maths well that was a different story. “I-I could help you with Math if you ever need a hand.” She offered “It’s the least I could do for you helping me before.” She smiled.
Maddie nodded when he asked her if she was walking this way. Her next class would be starting soon, which coincidently was going to be Math! Would it be to geeky to admit she was a little excited? “Y-yeah I’ve got a class down here.” Said Maddie setting off among the herd of students as she kept pace with Antonio.

--- The upperclassmen listened to her, purely amused about how enthused she really was about her education. It was nice to see someone here because they wanted to be, not because money and status placed them inside the walls of Victorious. Talk of logical and the alike, he kept his lips sealed. Math was nothing like that to him.
"Ancient history is fascinating too, I agree. " Antonio had no issues moving through the random assortments of people and he picked back up again, "No payment is needed, it was just something right to do, no? But if you will hold to that, once you see how bad I am at them, you might not be so willing. A more than a hand of yours would be needed to get me through it..."
He scratched at the side of his head for a moment, patting down his still wild strands. His emerald eyes moved lazily to watch her from his peripheral vision. "You will do just fine around here, just make sure to keep on your feet," he joked, chuckling at his own humor, "but we can forget that, no?"
Antonio stopped, swinging his bag around so he could open up the front pocket and pull out a small note book pad and the accompanying pen. Pressing onto his knee as a surface, he wrote his name in messy scrawl and Dorm 102 below it. "If you do decide my maths aren't too horrid for you, I would be more than happy to have help me. Ah, my father would be happy too to see the grades go up."

she remembered how terrible her mother had been and how many times Maddie had explained different equations to her. She loved helping her mom, and she knew how hard it had been for her to understand it. Her parents had left school at an early age and though they had basic qualifications they’d never gone onto university or any other form of higher education. Not that she cared, Maddie loved them just the way they were, they loved her and she loved them. For a moment Maddie wondered what her parents would be doing now, they’d probably be in bed once you considered the time difference.
Another light blush tickled her cheeks when Antonio mentioned her little accident. “Well I’ll try.” She chimed “b-but no promises, eh.” She grinned She’d never been great with coordination, when her grandmother had tried to enrol her in dance classes she remembered tripping and stumbling over every step until the teacher had resorted to having Maddie standing at the back of the group waving her hands, while all the other coordinated girls got to perform their perfected dance routines.
“Don’t worry, I’ll try my best to help you.” She promised “I just hope you can put up with my stuttering.” She said with a soft chuckle.

--- Antonio shook his head the slightest for a mixture of reasons, just settling on the little shake for the sake of a response. He could see the minute hand winding close, and the warning bell would be sounding any time soon. "M'mmm," he hummed happily, tearing out the little page from his note book and handing it to her with one hand.
"Easier to find me if you at least know where I stay, no?" the Senior told her in explanation as it wasn't his phone number or anything rather just his dorm. Once there, one of the other three would be able to tell her where he was anyways if not around. He moved on to reassure her, tugging at one of his curls absently. "I don't think it will be hard to put up with you, do not worry about that."
Antonio pointed over his shoulder just as the low chime went off, indicating he was where he needed to go. Before he turned to leave, he reached over and tugged softly on one end of her braid. "Ah, and chin up, you look nice today," he said with a soft smile, hoping to send her off with some confidence before parting ways.
Turning on his heel with a wave, new study partner at hand, the Carriedo heir ducked into his Finance class. Ooc: I thought it was an easy place to end since now they know each other for what else we had in mind. Thank you for the thread!
