Putting her military hat on Qiao ran out of the dorm. Her overly long sleeves flapped behind her as she looked at the campus map. Running down the stairs and outside she made a sharp left. Her feet flying over the new spring grass she found herself in a park with many trees lining the cement walkway. Looking curiously at the map she held in her sleeve she thought to herself, No, this can't be right... This isn't the history room..." Walking this way and that she looked again at the map. She was holding the map sideways and upside down, Trying desperately to decipher the English writing she gave up and tried to retrace her steps back to the dorm building. Clutching her Hello Kitty backpack tight to her chest she gave the park another sweep.
Pulling her hat down a little bit lower over her eyes she sat down on a bunch. The red qipao she wore sparkled slightly in the sunlight due to the careful embroidering of the golden threads. Her feet were slipped into little black ballet flats and her hands covered by the qipao's long sleeves. She preferred her sleeves long although she didn't quite know why. Most people never saw her hands as a result of this small quirk. Standing up once more she looked yet again at the map.

Today she planned to do some exploring, she had some time before her lesson and she was sure she’d be back in time. After all the town wasn’t too far away, she hitched her long socks that were slowly falling down her pale legs, as she smoothed down her light red dress. With her glasses in place and her beret hat (a gift from her grandmother who lived in French part of Canada) firmly planted on her head she checked to see if Kumakoro (or whatever that polar bear’s name was) was securely inside her back pack. When she found he was safe and hopefully comfy, Maddie began the long walk down the cobbled path.
She hummed lightly with every step she took, it was such a nice day and she was glad she was able to explore in such lovely weather. She grinned to herself as she wondered what the town would look like. It seemed so nice on the drive up to the school, like something off of a post card. Which reminded her, she promised her parents she’d send them a postcard when she got to the school. And how long had it been? She’d completely forgotten, she bit her lip and nibbled on the soft pink flesh worry shot through her. Surely they’d understand? Afterall they had to know she would be getting her bearings this week, hopefully they wouldn’t be to mad at her...
The beautiful park caught her eyes first, lighting with delight at the utter beauty of the gardens Maddie smiled brightly. And almost as if she were under a spell she found herself heading towards the old Iron Gate. Pushing it open she dreamily followed the long winding path that led across the grass. She almost didn’t see the person sitting on the bench; she blinked her lashes softly and caught their bewildered expression. The girl looked really lost and from the familiar map in the girls hand Maddie could tell she was from the academy. She didn’t want to leave her lost because if it was her she wouldn’t want to be left to find her own way. So she approached her with a gentle smile.
“H-hello, are you okay.” She asked softly “I-it’s just,” she began cringing inwardly as a light blush splattered across her cheeks, “you seem little lost. Are you from the academy?” she asked kindly. ... | notes - yey for lost peoplewords - 416credit - paddy, on the edge! |

Jumping slightly at the voice Qiao stuttered and stopped herself quickly from exclaiming in Chinese. Bowing her head slightly she switched her tongue to English as she communicated with the girl. "Y-yes I am from Academy." looking curiously at the girl she smiled a small smile and asked,"What is your name? Mine is Wang Qiao Ni." Saying her name in the Chinese order, last name then first, she wondered if they were ever confused about her actual first name. Smiling a little bit wider she continued,"Yes, I do need help. Do you know where the History room is?" Still holding the map upside down she showed the blonde girl the map.
Very confused she continued to gaze at the map. Wondering why the landmarks seemed to be in the right place, but the words looked funny. She had taken a crash course in the English language but still had no idea how it was positioned. "Sorry, I am new at English aru." she apologized still holding the map. Sitting down again she waited for the girl to answer as she flipped the map around and around again in utter confusion. None of these characters look familiar,"Ai-ya!" she said quietly.

I’m from Canada.” She needlessly added. Her eyes widened a moment in glee as the girl spoke her name. She’d never heard a name like that before it was cool and so much more interesting than boring Madeline. Seriously what were her parents thinking, it was so formal... “Wow, nice to meet you.” She said with a stutter.
Maddie smiled complacently at the girl. She understood what it could be like being lost Madeline herself had no sense of direction at all but she understood that it must have felt worse for Qiao. Nevertheless she offered her a helpful smile as she inspected the map. They were so far away from the school Maddie wondered how long it would take them to get back; she didn’t mind helping though because it would have been horrible to leave her here alone. What if something happened to her? Madeline would have felt so guilty. She paused for a moment as she gazed across the map.
“O-Oh,” she began “The history room is back up at the school.” Said Madeline softly “But I can show you w-were it is,” she offered, Maddie herself was almost sure were the room was after all she had had a few classes there herself and it probably wouldn’t take too long to find. “Come on, we’ve still got a little while before the next lesson starts, I-I’m sure we could find the class in time.” She said with a lithe grin as her black flat shoed Mary Jane’s crunched across the gravelly path. ... | notes - yey for lost peoplewords - 416credit - paddy, on the edge! |
